Restore the natural balance of your water

LimNovi develops technologies that permanently lock away phosphate, for clear water and a healthy, resilient freshwater ecosystem. Today. For generations to come.

It's not on
the surface.

Excess phosphate enriches the water and can lead to turbidity, oxygen depletion, algal blooms and loss of biodiversity. The problem is rarely visible: it sits in the sediment, where phosphate accumulates and keeps being released.

Working with nature
and not against it.

Sustainable water management starts with understanding the ecosystem: not just what’s visible on the surface, but the underlying processes that determine water quality.

Restore the conditions needed for a healthy ecosystem.
Bring nutrients and natural processes back into balance.
Protect the water quality achieved with solutions built for the long term.

Next-generation
phosphate binding.

LimnoPLUS is the first technology within the LimNovi platform: an innovative lanthanum modified clay with 10% lanthanum that permanently binds phosphate, both in the water column and in the sediment.

From water surface to permanent binding.

Four steps to permanent phosphate binding and natural recovery. LimnoPLUS stays active deep into the sediment.

LimnoPLUS is mixed with water and applied evenly across the water surface as a slurry.

As it settles, LimnoPLUS binds dissolved phosphate, reducing its availability.
Once settled, LimnoPLUS stays active and also binds phosphate released from the sediment.
Lanthanum and phosphate together form a stable, biologically inert mineral. Phosphate is permanently removed from the system.

Visible improvement. Lasting impact.

By reducing available phosphate and internal phosphate loading, LimnoPLUS can help achieve clearer water, more oxygen and a healthy, resilient ecosystem.

A real example of how we restore freshwater systems.

In spring 2025, LimnoPLUS was applied to Lake Alonco, a 2.5-hectare lake in Sint-Gillis-Waas that had suffered from recurring algal blooms. The treatment was carried out together with Aquatic Engineers, the water management consultancy LimNovi works closely with, using LimnoPLUS imported into Europe through our partner Eastern Node. Phosphate concentrations in the lake dropped sharply and stayed low throughout the monitoring period that followed.

In August 2026, Lake Alonco was chosen as the site for the region’s first supervised open-water swim days, after testing found the water free of blue-green algae and E. coli. Water quality is shaped by many factors, and LimnoPLUS was one part of a broader restoration approach at the lake, but the result shows what’s possible when technology, expertise and follow-up come together.

For a wide range of freshwater systems.

Recreational lakes
Ponds
Fishing ponds & reservoirs
Nature & conservation areas
Urban water features
Drinking water reservoirs
Buffer & stormwater basins
Agricultural irrigation reservoirs
Wherever phosphate puts water quality under pressure, LimnoPLUS can help drive lasting recovery.

From analysis to follow-up.

LimNovi delivers more than technology. We guide projects from the first assessment through to follow-up after treatment.
Mapping water quality, sediment conditions and phosphate loading.

The most suitable strategy for your specific situation.

The required amount of LimnoPLUS calculated to fit.
Support with planning and carrying out the treatment.
Follow-up and evaluation of water quality after treatment.

Technology inspired by nature.

LimNovi develops and introduces innovative technologies for the sustainable restoration of lakes, ponds and reservoirs. Healthy freshwater ecosystems are invaluable, yet many are under pressure from an excess of nutrients and disrupted natural processes. We look beyond a temporary improvement in water quality: our aim is to create the conditions in which an ecosystem can recover on its own and find a lasting balance again. We don’t want to be a supplier of water treatment products. We want to be a partner for sustainable water management, combining scientific knowledge, practical experience and innovative technology to support water managers, government bodies, nature organisations and engineering firms.
